Nabeela Hasrod received her Bachelor's degree in Optometry from the University of Johannesburg. In 2012, she began working in private practice and during that time, she supervised third and final year optometry students on a part-time basis. In 2014, she was employed as an Assistant Lecturer at the department of Optometry and in 2015 successfully completed the OCULAR THERAPEUTICS course through the University of Kwa Zulu Natal (UKZN) in conjunction with the State University of New York (SUNY). She received her MPHIL cum laude (2016) and was awarded the Chancellor's award and the Faculty of Health Sciences award for top post-graduate student in the faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Johannesburg. In 2016, she was appointed as a full-time lecturer at the department of Optometry. She received her Doctorate in Optometry in 2021. In 2022 she was promoted to Senior Lecturer and appointed as Programme Coordinator for the Department of Optometry. In 2023, she was appointed as HOD for Optometry and a Board Director for the SAOA for the Education and Clinical Standards Portfolio. Nabeela has published fourteen papers in accredited journals and presented in nine conferences thus far.
