Jia Fan is a Research Officer at the Department of Human Biology (HUB), University of Cape Town (UCT), and Visiting Professor at Wenzhou Medical University. He serves on the Undergraduate Education Committee (HUB, UCT) and is an Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Statistics in Medical Research.
His primary research focuses on acupuncture, face–brain morphology, and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), where he investigates neural mechanisms, brain–face interaction, and neuromodulation linked to cognitive function and neurodegeneration. He combines clinical neuroscience, neuroimaging, and translational approaches to advance understanding of brain health and therapeutic interventions.
He also maintains active international collaboration with Wenzhou Medical University on joint projects in pediatric visual dysfunction, circadian rhythm modulation, and amblyopia intervention, integrating neuroimaging and noninvasive neuromodulation strategies to support child vision health.
